Camera: Panasonic HDC-HS9 HD Camcorder w/ 60Gb Onboard HDD. I was originally looking at the Sony SR11 or SR12 but saw that Panasonic dropped the price of their Top Mid-Range HD Camcorder. I like the camera and it will do for now, however, I will purchase the Sony SR12 at a later date. Why, you may ask? Pros: Cheaper than SR11 or SR12 uhmm, that's about it really. Cons: Can't transfer files unless power chord is plugged into the Camera. Can't charge battery and use the camera at the same time, or even use the Camera off the power chord while the battery is in the goofy All-In-One Charging Dock. Contrary to belief, this camera only shoots 1920x1080p in this goofy 24fps Cinema Mode which can only be viewed back PROPERLY on a special certified type of display :( There is no option to shoot in any other framerate than 30fps (29.7fps). 60fps?... FORGET ABOUT IT:( Panasonic's shipping software to extract the files from the HDD to your PC is a absolute POS :( Once you attempt to convert the file to a format that most viewers will recognize, the video has been down compressed to some gawd awful grainy mess :( There is a workaround, but will cost you a lil bit extra. I've spent most of Xmas Day trying out different conversion techniques and I've settled on the result of what you see in the test video I shot:) The trick is to go straight from the native streaming video format of the camera to Quicktime HD or AVCHD, with no middle-man conversion.
